Wow they sound unbelievable, why are these speakers not more popular (size dummy).

Westminster or Canterbury's, even after hearing both still a tough choice.

One is less money, smaller, more relaxed presentation, less dynamic and exciting, clearly not as good below 30hz.

looks dept is a toss up.

    I agree.

After you left I listened the Eagles Live and it was the BEST I EVER heard in my life. That extra bass is really nice.

Oh boy.... I never heard any speakers that totally disappear regardless of any price.

I don't have speakers in my room when I'm listen.

The Canterbury does nice job but the Westminster does every thing better.

    Tough tough decision is coming.

I'm so appreciated what you do for me so far and I'm so lucky to have you as my man !

Mike. You got a hear them. I never had this experience before. .....

No wonder Jeff Dayhttp://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue49/tannoy.htm purchased this speakers as his Last pair of speakers for his life.

he Westminster sounds big, and more like live music than the other two speakers, and it provides a visceral experience that is unparalleled in my experience—it can quite literally rattle your ribs in your chest with certain music. The Westminster Royal SE is unique in that you not only hear it, but you can also feel the musical waveform over your entire body, even at moderate listening levels, which is one of its rather endearing traits.-Jeff Day

Re: About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

I think most audiophiles feel they are a big dynamic old school speaker that looks cool for people that like that retro look.

I'm afraid not so much, they are exactly what we all want - Almost real live music in our home at what ever level you like. They are magically wonderful.

But then there is the size - you have to have an understanding SO.

All the best to everyone during this wonderful weekend we are having, at least here in the north east, weather-wise.

About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

Mark I noticed you were at the SSI in Montréal late March. Which model did Tannoy had on display there? Do you remember.Just wondering size and sound wise.

Also you remember what components they were using?

    Thanks

Vancouver island vs the armpit of Canada. I'm jelous. At least here I have my wonderful family and friends, that fixes things.

BC is my favorite place on earth except maybe the Greek islands in August, but getting too old for that now.

They were in a really big room, using a stereo tube piece, can't remember what it was. The Canterbury's sounded pleasant, but nothing even close to what I heard at Paul's place I think the room was too big for them. The latest version of the Sasha was in the same size room driven by the D'Agostino pre and power sounding awesome.

My my guess is Tannoy sound their best near-field. Taking advantage of the Dynamics before they dissipate, plus the point source means you can be pretty close for a still very coherent sound.

About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

Paul the sledgehammer for the wall or the speakers? That one was way too easy

I'll be there in 5 (hours that is) with the baby and 10 pound sledge, ok?

Seriously I suspect your decision is taken, well then congrats once again and enjoy in good health. May the speaker whore side in you be in your past so you can enjoy the music fully.

So the Westminster are even bigger, OMG!

Yes you are right they were in a big room and we're lush sounding, hence my comment previously of being my cup of tea. Your argument about room size Mark makes sense so I guess I'll have to drive to Paul home to have a listen.

Interesting comment about the Dag's and Sasha II, I felt they sounded the closest to my sound system. I love the new Wilson sound, I guess it's the new silk dome tweeters

I think you're right about the decision Dan. Paul, now the real fun begins with finding the right amp to go with them.

I would love Paul to try some really nice 300b monos. But man, he could just stay put. The spkrs were singing on a single 275. Wonderful stuff.

And you never know he may not like the 300b's, he will loose some bass performance and probably gain in the midrange, so proof is in the listening.

Again huge thanks to Mark to make all this thing possible. I mean seriously when we start to discuss about the possible purchase on Tannoy I never had any business with him ever however he loan me a pair of brand new Canterbury and I got shocked by sounds and his service. ( NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED ON $30 K speakers WOW !) Later Now the Westminster ( another $50 K speakers lol also THE ONLY ONE in Canada ) If anyone wants to make a business with Mark please don't hesitate it.

Either Canterbury or Westminster I would be very happy to be a Tannoy Owner.

Thanks Paul, But your situation was very easy to accomodate, and the timing was perfect.

    1) We have mutual friends.
    2) You live 10 minutes from my shipping address.
    3) I had just done a demo order with Tannoy.

So the Tannoys just made a little detour to your room before they end up in my showroom.

I love this music Paul; what is it? ...It's by sharing a simple video like that of your room playing a lovely tune through your gorgeous sounding speakers that you keep the audio flame well alive and kicking some serious ass! I'm in ecstasy right now and I kid you not.
