C1000: Arrived and setting it up!

The McIntosh C1000 arrived on attached to a pallet via a UPS Freight truck. Immediately I began opening of the boxes and what a nice added touch, the components come wrapped with the McIntosh signature a blue fabric cloth. I've attached some close-ups to show the top chassis of each of the components so you can see the kewl diagrams.

    Also,
photos of the folder, manual and promo pages. McIntosh goes all out for the C1000

The gloves are Debutante quality. I wish I had another pair.

Are you going to use two sets of XLRs into the MC2301s? Your best wire should go there.

Have fun toggling your sources. You have the ultimate selection/routing choices.

Recommend a tube roll. Tesla E83CC gold pin. Gold Lion12AX reproductions at the very least. Be careful on the front porch. You need powderless surgical gloves.

Wow, three boxes for a preamp! Congrats!!!

I'm with Steve on the Tesla's. You could also do Sylvania, RCA, etc... I know a lot of Mc guys use GL's but personally I'm not a fan. YMMV.

+2 on the Tesla's. I bought into the Tesla based solely on Steve's recommendation and I am soooo glad I did. Best tube I have ever put into a McIntosh preamp. Currently, i have 8 of the Tesla's. I also much prefer Tesla over the GL.

Re: front porch, in addition to avoiding fingerprints and smudges, be very mindful of the tube cage cover. It IS directional. it only goes back on one way. if you try to put it back on flipped 180, it will instantly become stuck. ..... as in must take off front glass, bottom on unit to unassemble the tube cage/porch from below to loosen it. I learned the hard way.

take your time rolling tubes, its very easy, just dont be a bonehead like me!
