Mike, I could not agree with you more. Having to learn the Naim-way has been a new challenge....and I'm not even really close to knowing it all. Naim, I believe, is not currently running DSD in their streaming devices. I could be wrong but that is what I understand. Jock loves the TOTL NDS. Originally Posted by Mike

I have read good things about their two current DACs. The smaller (and newer) DAC V1 sounds great. But I am interested to find a comparison of the older/bigger iteration.

Their nDAC is very very good when used with the 555PS external power supply. It's a decent dac when used with its internal power supply.

That's pretty much the thing with Naim. Pretty much everything Naim makes can have a power supply added to it. There are different levels of power supplies that can be used and they can be used for multiple things.
The entry level Naim has amazing PRAT and the farther up the line you go adds detail, soundstage etc, without ever losing the PRAT.

A small iPhone teaser until later. Got to listen for 20 minutes or so last night. Staging is impressive but I'm hoping for a lot of improvements during burn in. Not too worried, though, as this was to be expected.

Thanks, Mike! Today, it seemed like things opened up a bit, compared to yesterday. Bass had a little more weight and the mids weren't as recessed. It will be a fun ride to listen to music as the burn-in progresses. Originally Posted by mdkim

Thank you, Joe! Today was better than yesterday by a good degree. It would be really fun if that continues to be the case for a long long time. I have read that Dyn's can even get worse after a little break-in has you feeling good. That will be funny to experience if that is the case for me. I forgot, the Dyn break in is a bear. Hundreds of hours required and some days good and some days terrible. Push through and it will be wonderful.

Break-in continues....I am really appreciating the staging and clarity this puppy is providing. The overall musicality is very very enjoyable. The highs are airy, mids have good weight and the bass is very punchy and dynamic. Leaving the unit on for days at a time proves to be helpful. The chassis has not gotten hot (just lightly warm) and I really like the feel to the buttons on the face. Still haven't really 'cranked' it yet but with the volume at about 9:00 or a little past, I have gotten pretty good SPL's and the Dyns just seem to handle the power with grace, begging for more.
