Tidal now with Linn native support!

I realize that Tidal was already discussed in another thread but this is a major development for all the streaming enthusiasts. Native support means that we only control the content we want to listen on Tidal with PC/Mac or iPad but the Linn renderer will directly get the stream from Tidal.

Linn offers a 60 day trial on Tidal, which I have activated, and it is working and sounding great. At this moment it is only working on the PC/Mac with the latest update of Linn's Kazoo software. The Kazoo update for the iPad is pending approval from Apple.

My question: will Lumin come with Tidal native support? Also will the Lumin app have the Tidal option? As a Linn owner I love the Lumin app...

A good example of the importance of industrial strategy -- native QoBuz streaming on Linn is still waiting, isnt't it?

I am not sure if it is still waiting. It is not available, that is correct. So your point is right: without industry partners you are screwed!
Best example: the video format that won in the eighties. Sony (Betamax) and Philips (V2000) had the superior formats but VHS became the standard. Why? Because they had the porn industry using it and thus the easier access to the market.

The best not always wins. The one with the best strategy mostly does.

Tidal is on the Auralic Aries now (under my Christmas tree)

The Sonos still does not have it. The word is that the Tidal folks have to write the interface using the API available from Sonos.

No clue which was easier to implement, Linn, Auralic, or Sonos. I do agree that the collaborative element helped with the speed of implantation. What surprises me is that with the Sonos resolution limited to 16/44, why they have not pursued Tidal more. So many of the other streamers play hi-Rez, that they will need to really work at maximizing their offerings. I will admit that the Sirius on Sonos works well.
    Amplification : Modwright LS300 - Atma-Sphere "Class D" monoblocks
Digital : MSB Premier DAC+Digital Director, Oppo 203, Sonos Port (W4S mod)
    Analog : Technics SL1200G, Boulder 508
Speakers : Daedalus Audio Muse Studio
    Headphone : BHSE + Voce

I am using Tidal on Sonos and it sounds amazing. The app is still in beta but almost all the features are there.

My Sonos is modified by Wyred 4 Sound and with a good dac, the sound is unbelievably great.

I bet you didn't get a chance to compare with QoBuz, what with being in the States and all?

How does it compare to your Lumin A1 playing FLAC?

I'm using my Marantz as a dac and it sounds great. The Lumin is better, especially with hi-res files, but the Sonos/Marantz combo is better than expected with Tidal and standard res files. Don't forget I can play my non-dsd and non-high res files through the Sonos/Marantz. The hi-res files, anything above 16/44.1, on the Limin is way better.
