Knowing the sound of the KT-150s and having looked at the power supply of the G, that's what I predicted.

Discussions about the placement of the G Series products within the AR lineup have been going on elsewhere. I think that each individual will have to make up their own mind as to whether they prefer the current top of the line Reference products or the newer G series.

I had an opportunity to listen to the GS150 last evening. I can now see why Nelson raved about his amp. First, the amp looks a lot better in real life than in pictures. Second, the amp is much larger than I expected. Third, and more importantly, it sounds fabulous.

The rest of the system was, ARC Ref10, ARC Ref9 CD/DAC, and Wilson XLFs with wires by Shunyata.

I heard the GSPre and GS150 last week driving Wilson's new Sabrina. F'ing good sound to be sure! Do I upgrade my signal wires or pony up and get a GS150, that is the question?

    Hi Bob,
I was at Music Matters too (I live in Bellevue) & agree that the Wilson & Audio Research sounded terrific. Since you already own reference quality Audio Research electronics, the safe thing to do would be to find a way to try the Gs Pre and GS150 amp in your system before making such a big expenditure. There is always a possibility that they may not be an improvement over your current set up.

I'm only pining for the GS150. I would not put a GSPre in place of my Ref10. I asked Dave Gordon where he thought better value would be had, since I already put KT150s in my REF75... should I upgrade the 75 to SE status, or sell it and get the GS150? While he was pondering an answer another visitor interrupted so he didn't answer.

Certainly upgrading to SE status for the REF75 would be cheaper, but there is the whole down time round-tripping the amp to the factory.

First world problems, to upgrade or not to upgrade. To buy or buy something else. Oh the horror!

Bob, Any indication from Dave about the cost of the upgrade?

Bob, Ritmo(Mike) heard the REF10 and GS 150 driving XLF's here in Dallas. He said it was an amazing setup. Dave Gordon told Mike, that in his opinion , the GS 150 was the best sounding amp that ARC makes.
